Organizational activity in the project room OKK
Over the past 14 years, the Organ of Critical Art has created a place in Berlin’s Wedding with intensive and continuous work, which is not only internationally known among activists and critical artists. Through numerous collective projects and thematic exhibitions, the OKK has developed a unique selling point at the intersection of political art and activism. With more than 400 artists, activists and scientists from more than 50 countries on display, the network is anchored far beyond the borders of Berlin, which does not mean that the Berlin colleagues will fall short – quite the contrary – we always offer a platform for Berlin artists and their work, be it with presentations or as a studio for planning and implementing upcoming exhibitions.Flexibility and spontaneous freedom are a fundamental part of our support for local colleagues, making OKK a sought-after space for projects and concepts for autonomous Berlin art production. The project work of critical art is dynamic and vital: the follow-up and accompanying of political processes in the artistic-scientific research work and the processing of up-to-date information in artistic-activist actions and performance.
With the pandemic and its corresponding regulations for exhibiting and presenting art, project space work has become almost impossible, the introduction of online formats such as podcasts and streamings sometimes seems like the famous emergency box, but is by no means sufficient. Nevertheless, by implementing online formats and hybrid art mediation, we try to make part of the presentations available to the public via the net.
