Vicente Bracho Garay / Roto-translationale Fotografie
Opening: Friday 13th of June 25 at 7pm
Duration: 13-29 of June
“I have been dedicated to photography since 1987 and have been working as a photojournalist since 1993. In 2000, photography had already become my strongest form of expression and I was looking for what Don Simón called nagual -the protective animal spirit of things. I transferred this concept to photography by rotating the camera during long exposures, as if it were in a state of intoxication – a state of altered unconsciousness.
Yes, unconsciousness – because my camera is not (yet) conscious, which makes it an object without judgement orpreconceptions. It shows what is recorded exactly as it is: naked reality, without fakes or tricks, in brutal, explicit clarity -with the brutality that characterises filterless observation.“
