PACHA means earth in quechua.The idea is a view to nature and the earth in a sense of connection with its structures and rhizome networks. Pacha-Suomi is a term, which should be used as a progressive one, by us and our contributing people – reconnecting with the earth, creating consciousness about it.
SUOMI because it should mean the earth where we are living on. Our home, our roots, our force to understand the people who pass or maybe stay from „outside“, and inside. We are connected and linked by the biggest network itself „PACHAMAMA“ so the belonging to any nationalities or other inventions to imprison people are obsolete.

DISECTANDO – DISSECTING

DO NOT WAIT WHILE HAPPENS, HAPPENS WHILE YOU WAIT.
UTOPICAL LIFE, EXAMINED FROM THE EXTRACTION
OF ITS CONSTANT DEATHS …

It begins disectando the questioning of life as a process of death, a journey within the flesh and mind, a truce with the inner body and an allegory of death that occurs instantaneously along with life. The mind speculates with the spirit or the soul, something that “according to” mobilizes the body, something that makes us human and individuals in essence. But what more spiritual than the skin, what more soul than blood and bones?

Dissectando is an act of carefully examining within the body its contents, both organic and mental and energetic, it is the process of exposure and dispossession, a deep incision in the psyche and its mundane artifices, where the body is a spiritual enclosure since this is the first receptacle of the world, where idealizations of any kind are formed and this being the first and last reality.

The reality that is sculpted in this process of dissection, how fantastic and miserable is our environment with respect to the body? How miserable does the mind return to the body, since it lives by its own will and indifferent? The goal is to cleanse the body as much as possible of its humanity, leaving it virginal and evidenced as it is, human and animal. This is an instinctive and cannibalistic search to go inward and cause the fluids, together with the tissues, the cells, the flesh, the bones, to eat as the body perpetually does in the permanence.

AUFTAKT ZUR ARBEITSAUSSTELLUNG

Das sind Bilder aus Städten, Strassenschluchten, immer wieder Automobile, Perspektiven vermischt mit Klischees.
Es sind Sehnsüchte der Mobilität im wild-wuchernden Stadt- und Vorstadt-Dschungel, eingebettet in Farb-Emotionen und Verzerrungen der Gewissheiten.
Vorhandenes wird zum Lebensraum, zum natürlichen Umfeld, zur Natur, erdacht.
Die “gute, alte Zeit” der Zukunft erklärt sich dabei vorzeitig.
 
START OF THE WORKING EXHIBITION

These are pictures from cities, street canyons, again and again automobiles, perspectives mixed with clichés.
There are longings of mobility in the wild-proliferating city and suburban jungle, embedded in color emotions and distortions of certainties.
Existing is thought to be habitat, natural environment, nature.
The “good old days” of the future are explained prematurely.

My work begins by setting relationship between a specific space set inside my atelier, a fixed camera and time. Traditional materials like paint and canvas are replaced through colored paper and a room that are used repeatedly over time, resulting in increased productivity. The end product, or artwork, is delivered in two different forms – photograph and video. On one hand, I thoroughly control the production (i.e. make the space look like a flat surface) from the viewpoint of a fixed camera. On the other, I function inside the space in liaison with the tools. This means that I exist both as a manager operating the production and as an active subject working within the space and time frame. In this regard, my work can be interpreted as emancipated labor in the context of a post-fordism point of view. It is an attempt to participate in the social discourse of art, labor and play through the process and experience of production.

An integral part of the project is the media – photographs and videos. The two types of media refer to the two different aspects of artistic labor. Photographs, taken when one installation is completed, have their role as an artwork in a traditional sense as they can be seen as drawing or graphic art. This image, however, merely displays a fraction of space and time, and cannot fully incorporate the multitude of layers that constitute the experimental space and individual narratives of artistic labor(life). Video complements this continuity aspect and better represents the changing(living) nature of the process. Thus, the two media are contradictory yet symmetrical.

Pieces of colored paper used in the first installation are recycled repeatedly in the following works. Industrially produced papers are used over and over and create a circulating flow of images. Fundamentally, all images consist of the same material. Between space, time and the images produced, what is real? What real to me is an aesthetic value that rises from a new being – a being produced through the creativity of labor, or the surplus of being. In the essence of this aesthetic value lies the act of liberated labor. The more abstract labor becomes, the more surplus is produced.

Jedes Individuum nimmt seinen eigenen Körper mit allen Sinnen wahr – und ebenso die Körper von Anderen. Das menschliche Auge ist imstande alle Formen, Wellen, Falten, Erhebungen, Gruben und Ecken der Oberfläche des Körpers festzuhalten. Diese Formen bewegen sich oder werden bewegt. So entstehen Mimik und Gestik – die Körpersprache. Durch die Haut, die alle inneren Organe umhüllt und die Körperteile zusammenhält, kommt der Körper mit anderen Menschen, Objekten und mit seinem Umfeld in Berührung.

Der menschliche Körper ist nicht nur ein sinnlich erfahrbares Gebilde. Er wird immer wieder durch soziale und kulturelle Phänomene transformiert und an die jeweils aktuelle Realität angepasst. Durch das kategorisierende Denken des homo sapiens, des “vernünftigen Menschen”, wird der Körper zu einer reinen Konstruktion. Ist dieser Körper, den ich gerade sehe, “weiblich” oder “männlich”, alt oder jung, gesund oder krank, keins davon oder beides? Solche Eingrenzungen seiner Formenvielfalt normieren, unterdrücken und tyrannisieren ihn. Doch der Körper selbst kennt keine Grenzen: Er lässt sich nicht so einfach zuordnen, gelangt ohne Unterbrechung von einer Kategorie zur anderen, ist manchmal das “Eine”, manchmal das “Andere”, oft aber keins davon. Der Körper ist fließend.

In einer raumspezifischen Installation lässt Jonas Büßecker Spannungsräume zwischen verschiedenen Objekten und Materialien entstehen und setzt sich so mit Körpergrenzen auseinander. In welchem Spannungsverhältnis steht der Körper zu seinem Umfeld? Durch welche Mechanismen wird er unterdrückt und geformt?  

Ebenfalls in Abhängigkeit und ständigen Wandel befinden sich die gezeichneten Figuren in der Bilderreihe Taxonomy of Liquid Personas (2017/2018) von Anna Luca Mogyorós. Bei genauerer Betrachtung verflüssigen sich die (zunächst starr wirkenden) Körper, gehen ineinander über und bilden neue, oft verfremdete Formen.

Miteinander verwoben erscheinen auch die Körper in den Bildern des Künstlers Back, der diese heimlich in verschiedenen Darkrooms zeichnete. Auf den voyeuristischen Skizzen der Reihe Move your Body (2018)  lassen sich schemenhaft Personen erkennen, die versunken in sexuelle Aktivitäten neue Körperschaften bilden.

In der Fotoserie Mimicry (2018) führt die Künstlerin Nadia Markiewicz die Betrachter*innen hinters Licht: Erst durch genaues Hinsehen wird deutlich, dass die attraktive junge Frau eine Handprothese trägt. Anhand ihres eigenen Körpers thematisiert Markiewicz Vorurteile gegenüber Körpern, die nicht der Norm entsprechen.

Auch Eva Karduck hinterfragt  in ihrer Videoarbeit our open bodies (2019) gesellschaftliche Körpernormen. Die Künstlerin setzt sich unterschiedlichen Körperbehandlungen im Beauty Salon, beim Yoga und beim Treffen mit einer Domina aus und untersucht, inwiefern sie die Kontrolle abgeben und ihren Körper gegenüber anderen öffnen kann. Wie wird der Körper durch heteronormative Vorstellungen geprägt und wie kommuniziert er mit anderen?

artburst berlin e.V. ist ein Kunst- und Kulturverein, der seit 2013 auf ehrenamtlicher Basis kreative Talente fördert und Kunst mit dem Berliner Stadtleben verbindet. Als Team engagierter Kunstwissenschaftler*innen organisiert artburst berlin Ausstellungen und Kulturevents – abseits vom Kunstmarkt, dafür nah am Publikum. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf aktuellen Themen, die Menschen in der Großstadt berühren und aufrühren. Ziel ist es, eine alternative Plattform für künstlerische Positionen zu bieten.

Each individual perceives its own body with all his senses – as well as the bodies of others. The human eye is capable of capturing all forms, waves, folds, elevations, pits and corners of the body’s surface. These forms move or are moved. This is how facial expressions and gestures – the body – language – are created. Through the skin, which surrounds all internal organs and holds the body parts together, the body comes into contact with other people, objects and its surroundings.

The human body is not only a sensually experienceable entity. It is repeatedly transformed by social and cultural phenomena and adapted to current reality. Through the categorizing thinking of homo sapiens, the “reasonable human being”, the body becomes a pure construction. Is the body I am currently seeing “female” or “male”, old or young, healthy or sick, neither of them or both? Such limitations of its variety of forms standardize, suppress, and tyrannize it. But the body itself knows no boundaries: It is not so easy to classify, passes from one category to another without interruption, is sometimes the “one” sometimes the “other”, but often none of them. The body is fluid.

In a site-specific – installation

Jonas Büßecker creates spaces of tension between different objects and materials thus dealing with body boundaries. What is the tension between the body and its surroundings? By which mechanisms is it suppressed and formed?  

The figures drawn in the series Taxonomy of Liquid Personas (2017/2018) by Anna Luca Mogyorós are also dependent and constantly changing. On closer inspection, the bodies (which initially appear rigid) liquefy, merge into one another and form new, often alienated forms. The bodies also appear interwoven in the paintings of the artist Back, who drew them secretly in various darkrooms. In the voyeuristic sketches of the series Move your Body (2018) schematically persons can be recognized, who absorbed in sexual activities form new bodies.

In the photo series Mimicry

(2018), the artist Nadia Markiewicz deceives viewers: Only by looking closely does it become clear that the attractive young woman is wearing a prosthetic hand. On the basis of her own body.

Markiewicz addresses prejudices against bodies that do not conform to the norm.

In her video work our open bodies (2019), Eva Karduck also questions social body norms. The artist exposes herself to various body treatments in the Beauty Salon, during yoga and when meeting a dominatrix and examines the extent to which she can give up control and open her body to others. How is the body shaped by heteronormative ideas and how does it communicate with others?

Unter dem Ausstellungstitel, der an einen abgeschmackten Spontispruch erinnert, zeigt Diego Castro Arbeiten aus den letzten Jahren, die sich mit der Ikonografie der Bundesrepublik befassen. In Malereien, Zeichnungen, Audioarbeiten und Video setzt sich Diego Castro mit Bildsymboliken und Historie des westdeutschen Staates auseinander, den er – ähnlich wie die DDR – für untergegangen hält. Die sogenannte Stunde Null, die Kontinuität der Nazizeit im Persil-Schein-Land, der deutsche Herbst oder die Privatisierung der Medienlandschaft im historischen Windschatten der Wiedervereinigung sind nur einige der Themen, die er behandelt. Dabei erstaunt immer wieder auch die Konfrontation von ernsten Themen mit einem Hintergründigen Humor. Immer wieder taucht in seinen Bildern Mecki auf, der gemütliche Igel aus der Hörzu, der nach dem Untergang des Herrenmenschen, einen neuen Typ des Deutschen symbolisieren sollte: Ein behäbiger Hausmeister-Typus, der den Deutschen Toleranz, Friedfertigkeit und sogar Demokratiebewusstsein vermitteln sollte. Bei Castro gerät Mecki in Dialog mit der Ästhetik Albert Speers und Arno Brekers. In der Serie „Deutsche Farben“ malt der Igel mit bläulichen Schattierungen aus den Nachfolgebetrieben der I.G. Farben sogar selbst in der Rolle des Künstlers, die symbolisch für die Neuerschaffung steht. Schlagersänger und Charaktere der Bonner Republik gehen gegenüber protestierenden Studenten in Stellung. Die Malerei Castros ist ein Realismus mit pastosem Pinselstrich, der an die frühen Tage des kapitalistischen Realismus anknüpft, indem sie Bilderwelt mit Sozialkritik verknüpft. Dabei ist sein expressiver Malgestus nicht expressionistisch. Mit dem archaischen Medium des Tafelbildes befragt Castro nicht die Gefühlswelt, sondern verarbeitet die Bilderwelt einer bereits historisch gewordenen Mediengesellschaft, die in dieser Form nicht mehr existiert. Seine Zeichnungen zeugen im Gegensatz zu seinem lockeren Pinselschwung von einer Präzision, die Teilweise bis an das Fotorealistische herangehen können, um dann wieder mit absichtsvollem Primitvismus einen gewissen Humor entfalten. In Kombination mit Audio-Arbeiten und Video ergibt sich ein komplexes Beziehungsgeflecht zwischen den Exponaten.

Diego Castro wurde 1972 in Hannover geboren. Er studierte bildende Kunst in Kiel, Saint-Etienne und Nantes, sowie Kunsttheorie in Genf. An der HfBK in Hamburg promovierte er mit einer wissenschaftlich-künstlerischen Arbeit. Seine künstlerischen Arbeiten wurden auf zahlreichen internationalen Ausstellungen gezeigt. Diego Castro ist darüber hinaus als Autor und Hochschullehrer tätig. Bekannt wurde auch er als Frontmann der Kreuzberger Garagenrock-Band „Black Heino“.
