“Eversince I`ve been working more seriously with art, I try to work on a concrete field of action, for I know art is not a natural phenomenon, but an artificially generated experience that wants to find its place in life in a genuine way. In my practice I position my work in a stable framework of growth.
With this point of entry I began making work with paper, always pursuing to register time and space relations exploring the limits of the material I was dealing with as an utopian way to find bold concreteness in such a delicate material. With actions like erosion, sedimentation of pigment or ink saturation, construction of spacial relations through ripping and reassembling, shaping planes, figures or landscapes at the edge of the surfaces integrity, I tried to make an objectual construction from where I could expand the range of possibilities to other procedures and materials: More dense, objectual materials and procedures and a more direct way to relate to spaciallity, as well as a more realistic relation to time, for most of the materials I was interested in had suffered some kind of natural corrosion.
The relation with time and space gained evidence in more recent works, where I placed myself in the position of registering a constantly efemeral habitat in the intent to make a poetic statement of an immigrant’s “Weltanschauung”, where all the elements that compose the body of my work act in a much more live related way as experienced time and spacial presence.”
